Pine Island Community Pool

We have been fortunate enough to have recieved permission to utilize the Pine Island Community pool.  The pool features six 25 yard lanes and plenty of deck space for team workouts.  Stop by sometime and check it out!

The facility is also open to the public at varying times throughout the year for activities and open swim.  Check out their page here for more information.

A Brief History of the Pool

In 1972 Lee County Park & Recreation and the community of Pine Island combine their talents for the first stages of the new 183,500 gallons, 25 yards, six lane pool with a diving board. It varies from 3ft.6in. to 11 feet. The pool was completed in 1973. Making it the first owned and operated aquatic facility of Lee County.

In 1986, heaters were added to warm the water during the winter months. Making it another first for Lee County. Swimming lessons, Aqua Aerobic and The Arthritis Foundation classes have become a standard activity for the community. ADA accommodations available. The lifeguard staff are certified through the StarFish Aquatic Institute, Star Guard program. The learn to Swim Instructor staff are certified through the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Program.

In the summer months the pool is open seven days a week. Open extended hours on Tues. and Thurs. night. Pine Island Pool will partner with various island organizations and offer special special cook outs during the summer.

The communities of Pine Island and the surrounding area have raised over eight thousand dollars to add a water slide to the facility. It was completed and ready for action in January of 2003.

In 2010 the pool was converted over to a salt water pool. This is another first for Lee County and still remain the only Lee County saltwater pool

The Pine Island Pool is located in the Phillips Park sport complex off of Sesame Dr., just beside the tennis courts. So if you're out this way, stop in for a swim or just to say hello.
